Celestron Firstscope 114EQ 114mm Reflector Telescope 47% Off

Today is Sunday which makes it Best Buys Zone Photographic Equipment day which is turning out to be more interesting than I originally thought. Photographic equipment also includes cool optics like telescopes and Night Owl Optics. So this weekly column should be quite cool.

As a kid I always wanted a telescope and never got one. It was definitely one of those science things my dad would have said, "Telescope? What the hell for BD?" This Celestron Firstscope 114EQ would make a great first telescope for today's kids. Newtonian reflector telescopes offer a number of excellent features including Freedom from most optical aberrations and delivery of very bright images. Reasonably compact and portable to focal lengths of 1000mm. Excellent performance observing faint deep-sky objects such as nebulae, remot e galaxies and star clusters. Lowest cost per square inch of aperture due to use of mirrors rather than lenses.

The 114mm (4.5") Newtonian equatorial telescope is the most popular size telescope for the more serious beginning or intermediate level astronomy enthusiast, and for good reason. The large light gathering power of this 4-½" telescope makes it ideal for deep-sky observation of galaxies, star clusters and nebulae, as well as lunar and planetary observing. This makes for a very useful and versatile instrument that can take an observer from the very first time looking through a telescope's eyepiece, through years of observing interesting subjects near and far in the night sky. Firstscope 114EQ

A high quality, economical telescope with superb optical systems housed in a glossy black metal tube. The equatorial mounts are quite stable, with setting circles and slow motion controls on both axes for easy, smooth tracking. Strict adherence to Celestron's tough quality standards for manufacturing, assembly and testing ensures that each telescope performs well.

Our pricing engine found one better price on this telescope at $160 than the already great price of $189.90

Motorola V551 Phone (Cingular) 63% Off

Ok I looked at the calendar today to see what is the topic of the day at this blog. Today we are supposed to be going over great deals with Wireless Phones. I am not a big wireless phone fan. My own phone never gets used. It sits in the kitchen uncharged and unloved. Why? Because I am not too certain that I need to use it. Moving to New Mexico has slowed my pace of life so I see very little need to constantly be harrunging some one on the phone?

Ok enough complaining. On to the some of the better deals on wireless phones on the Net. Keep in mind that many of these phones also come bundled with some great service plans. Where I can i will point that out as well.

Ok the Motorola V551 is pretty cute camera, phone, mp3 player. It features conference calling and integrated hands-free speaker. It's MP3 ringtone capable which means that you can take your favorite MP3s and integrate them into the phone. It has A VGA camera with 4x zoom and video capture abilities. On the receiver side it has quad-band GSM phone with built in Bluetooth.

More importantly this phone is a internet texting and messaging powerhouse. Instant messaging is also supported via AOL Instant Messenger and the phone ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols (Cingular messaging charges apply). There's also a built-in web browser for MEdia downloads and mobile web browsing. Cingular's MEdia service lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the V551. It supports the GPRS protocol, as well as the new, high speed EDGE data protocol. When used with a Cingular data plan and the phone's Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

At 63% off its a great deal and a real steal.
