Home made ice cream is the best. This is the second ice cream maker I have featured on the blog. The first was the Musso 4080 Dessert Maker. That unit costs about $590 dollars while this one only costs $249. This is a great deal for unit with a compressor. Ice cream makers come in a variety of types. The lower end unit lack a refrigeration compressor so the ice cream must either be frozen through storing it in the freezer or rather arcane mixture of ice and salt. These are relatively inexpensive. The higher end units have the own compressors, allowing them to make batches of ice cream more quickly as they can complete the freezing process. Finding a good deal on a compressor based unit is the way to go as quickly frozen ice cream is often better. This iso one of the only truly affordable compressor models on the marketplace. Most run well over $500.

Some tips on Using an Ice Cream Maker:
1. The first batch I made was a simple recipe from the instructions which contained no eggs. While it turned out OK, it couldn't compare with custard-based ice creams that include egg yolks. The custard bases consistently result in smoother, creamier, and richer ice cream.

2. Try to make the ice cream base the night before you'll be freezing it (especially custard bases). It allows the flavors to blend and ensures the base is cold. A cold base will freeze more rapidly and is less likely to develop ice crystals.

3. When making chocolate ice cream, using quality chocolate rather than cocoa gives a richer flavor.

4. It's much easier to make ice cream when there's no need to have lots of ice and rock salt or remember to pre-freeze bowl wich may or may not fit in the freezer.

5. It also can freeze sorbets and sherberts and make slushies for the kids. I suppose you could make frozen drinks with it, but I'll stick to the blender for those.

Andromeda Galaxy is viewed as a fuzzy cloud with more detail observable in darker skies. Use a CCD camera to overcome your eye's limitation by capturing the color and detail that are shown in pictures.

The Autostar is an excellent educational tool with detailed information on each object. It allows you the hands-on experience of learning which makes it fun. Follow the instructions carefully for configuring the Autostar. The more accurate the motor calibration, the easier it will be to align to the stars. It helps to set your watch to the atomic clock which can be found at www.time.gov and use that for the time entered. This will give an accurate position of the stars according to the Earth's rotation. Make sure your telescope is pointed "True North" and follow the instructions for the fork arm location on the telescope. Learn the locations of a few stars during the different seasons in order to make the alignment procedure simpler.

This is the Belkin Nostromo Speedpad- If you play Half Life 2 Collector's Edition, Doom 3 Collector's Edition, or any first person shooter, this little unit is your secret weapon. It combines the keyboard and gamepad into a small unit that you can use with one hand. It's flexibility allows the keyboard keys to be easily re-programmed. While learning to use it will take a little practice, it's well worth the learning curve.

Once you have a good key setup and get used to the keys, it's definitely a large step above a normal keyboard, both in speed and ergonomics. You have everything right at your fingertips, and never have to glance away from the screen to see where that key you need is. The setup program for defining bindings is extremely user-friendly and intuitive, and makes swapping between different sets of bindings very quick and painless.

And then there's the macros. Oh yes. This is where the gamepad really has a leg up on everything else. Using the same quick and easy binding editor, you can set up a huge list of commands to be fired off with a single button press. Timings can be established (i.e. press C, wait 2.2 seconds, press D, wait 0.05 seconds, press E), and I have yet to hit a functional limit to the length of a macro you can record. Plus, while the macro is firing, you can be doing something else. It's insanely handy, especially for RTS and MMO games, and becomes more and more useful the more you play with it. If you're a competetive player, you might not want to use it for the simple reason that it's easy to become dependent on it. It's a hardware advantage, not a skill one, so ethically maybe a little fuzzy also. Who cares though? With tons of bots out there you need every advantage you can get.
